Leather Hip Satchel - Egyptian Scarab II

This rare, one-of-a-kind leather hip satchel is a functional work of art that you can take with you! More than roomy enough for everyday carry items like cellphone, wallet and keys, but also sturdy and made from time-tested historical leather. 

The Artwork

The hand-carving and artwork on this bag is inspired by the motifs and engravings of ancient Egypt. The scarab  symbolized rebirth for the ancient Egyptians, as well as regeneration, and the sun god Khepri, who rolled the sun across the sky. The carving features hieroglyphics, which were the fundamental method of writing in Egypt for thousands of years. The lid also contains a 100% real Lapis Lazuli gemstone. To the ancient Egyptians, this was a sacred stone symbolizing the night sky, divinity, and the afterlife.

The Quality

This entire hip bag is handmade; cut, carved, embossed, painted and sewn entirely by hand in our workshop. We use eco-friendly vegetable-tanned leather for the body of the bag and reclaimed garment leather for the gusset walls. The bag features belt loops so that you can wear it at the hip, as well as two eyelet anchors for the attachment of a strap. The bag uses a strap and keeper closure system for easy access. We use eco-friendly water-based paints and dyes as well as strong waxed thread to make all of our productions.

Standard Hip Bag pouch measures 25.5 cm across, 19.5 cm tall and a width of 8 cm.
