One-of-a-kind leather belt bag, the Scythian Stag Belt Bag is a beautiful piece of functional art that you can take with you wherever you go! The body of the bag is made of a beautiful, gold-dyed nubuck elk leather, locally sourced in Lanark County. The lid of the bag is made from sturdy and reliable vegetable-tanned cow leather, treated and preserved with neatsfoot oil to keep it moisturized. It cinches closed using a drawstring decorated with wooden beads, and the lid closes using a decorated metal concho.
The lid of the bag is hand-carved and painted with the iconic motif of the leaping Scythian Stag. The Scythians of the Eurasian steppe made many beautiful artworks adorned with animal designs of all kinds. It is thought that the deer was of particular importance to them; perhaps as a tribal totem or perhaps as a symbol of the spirits that would carry away their deceased ancestors.
